Even better: You can use it wirelessly with any device, whether it a PS5, a Nintendo Switch in portable mode, or an Android phone, thanks to its USB-C dongle and USB-A converter.

It’s a unique gaming headset — the Arctis 7P/7X comes in both black and white — that you’ll really want to wear as your everyday headphones. The device’s soft, lightweight earcups and adjustable elastic headband make it quite comfortable to use. Topping it off with a crystal-clear microphone and a 24-hour battery life is the perfect way to make this a standout device.

The revolutionary THX profiles on this mid-range wired headset make it an excellent choice for both gaming and listening to music. There are a few games like Apex Legends and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice that have their own customized profiles, thus Blackshark V2’s surround sound benefits from the knowledge of the renowned film audio studio.

The Blackshark V2 headset from Razer is exceptionally lightweight and comfy, making it ideal for esports contests. Razer’s software may be a chore to use at times, and getting it to fit properly can be a hassle as well. While the Blackshark V2 costs less than $100, it still has some interesting audio choices for your favorite games.

For PC users, the Inzone desktop program allows you to build and alter sound profiles, and due to the Inzone H9’s 3D audio technology, PC users can also enjoy immersive 3D audio.

Although it costs $300, this gaming headset is perfect for PC, PS5, iOS, and Android, and it can connect to both PS5 and Discord at the same time, allowing you to hear game noises while chatting with your pals at the same time. Moreover, if you’re a fan of the PS5’s black and white style, you’ll appreciate this headset’s comparable look.

For starters, the headset’s distinctive black style is complemented by its flexible headband and exceptionally comfy foam and leatherette earcup choices. The fact that a gaming headset is comfortable isn’t enough to qualify it as one of the finest, but it’s still a vital factor to consider. As long as you can’t use the headset for more than five or six minutes at a time, it is pointless.

Regardless of whether you’re using it with a PC or a console, the Go Pro X produces deep, precise audio right out of the box. If you’re playing Apex Legends or broadcasting to your online audience, this headset is the first with a built-in Blue microphone, enabling you to communicate in crystal-clear quality. High-resolution 96 kHz/24-bit audio is possible thanks to this headset’s DAC (digital to analog converter). In addition, the GameDAC offers a wide range of personalization options, such as an equalizer for sound and RGB lighting customisation.

When it comes to gaming, the Arctis Pro is noticeably louder and clearer than the previous Arctis series and sounds terrific with high-resolution audio files. One of the best gaming headsets for high-res sound support and a wide range of functions is the Arctis Pro + GameDAC. GameDAC is available as a separate purchase if you already own a pair of headphones that you enjoy using.

That’s what the HyperX Cloud Stinger from HyperX is proving. One of the best cheap gaming headsets we’ve used, the Stinger’s robust, feather-light design and comfortable, faux-leather earcups combine it an excellent gaming headset. The Cloud Stinger’s comfortable fit is one of the most critical aspects of a gaming headset, and it delivers.

The Stinger’s audio quality is excellent for the budget, albeit it can get a little distorted at high volumes. A great set of cans for less than $50, the Stinger delivers excellent sound in a very comfortable pair of cans. $99 Cloud Stinger Wireless, on the other hand, offers the Stinger’s outstanding design without the need for cables.

Both the comfort and the sound quality of this headset are superb. Mobile devices, streaming players, and smart TVS can all connect wirelessly through Bluetooth or USB to the PC or PlayStation console. You may use a 3.5 mm audio cable to connect it to a Switch, Xbox controller, or older system. The Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT is capable of a wide range of tasks.

A lot of that capability comes at a price, though. Even the $200 JBL Quantum 800, the $240 JBL Quantum One, and the earlier version of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE are more costly than the Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT. Some of its competitors can run for twice as long on a single charge than the Virtuoso. The Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT, on the other hand, is a headset that is both comfortable to wear and provides excellent sound.

In addition, the Xbox Wireless Headset is Bluetooth-enabled, so you can listen to music or make phone calls while gaming.

For players who own several systems, the Xbox Wireless Headset isn’t a fantastic option because it doesn’t function with the PS5 or the Switch. It might also be difficult to get a good fit. The sound quality of the Kaira Pro is fantastic, especially for video games, and it is not overly pricey.

The Kaira Pro’s sound profile can’t be customized nearly as much as Razer’s, and the Bluetooth connecting procedure isn’t as easy as it might be. Both the PS4 and Xbox One versions include USB dongles that let them to connect to each other, although the PS4 version can only be played on the PS4. This feature is available on both models. Bluetooth connectivity is supported on both versions. Since very few gaming headphones have Bluetooth capabilities, this is a huge convenience.

The Stealth 700 Gen 2 has a very tight fit, so you’ll either have to break it in or get used to some pressure around your ears before you can wear it comfortably. It’s recommended to start with the volume at a lower setting and gradually increase it, if at all feasible.

The sound quality of this wireless accessory is amazing, and it’s really pleasant to wear. Even among the greatest gaming headphones, the Astro A20 can connect wirelessly to both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, a remarkable achievement.

There are flaws to this accessory, of course. Aside from being unattractive, moving between numerous devices (such as a PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and mobile phone) is a tiresome and frequently inaccurate procedure. Still, sound quality, comfort, and connection are the most important aspects of wireless gaming headphones, and the Astro A20 has them all.

It does, however, come with a USB-A converter, so you can use it docked with just about any other device, be it a PC, PS4, or Switch. In addition, the USB-C dongle is compatible with the PS5.

Even yet, the rest of the Barracuda X is lacking. Even if you use a PC, there is no software that can be customized. Even so, the Barracuda X is an excellent value for the money, with a slew of useful functions and sound quality to match.

WHAT ARE THE BEST GAMING HEADSETS?

The SteelSeries Arctis 7P/7X is the best gaming headset if you’re ready to spend a premium. The elastic headband on this wireless headset makes it wonderfully comfortable to use, and it’s compatible with just about any device, be it a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox One X or an Android phone. The Arctis 7P/7X may be plugged into an older device with a headphone port through a 3.5 mm cable. The Arctis 7P/7X has a lot going for it, including user-customizable soundscapes and a lengthy battery life.

The HyperX Cloud Stinger is a great option for individuals on a tight budget. Plush earcups, on-ear volume controls, and a strong boom microphone are all included in this top gaming headset. Granted, at higher volumes, the sound can get distorted, but that’s a minor drawback for a headset in this price range. You may use it with any system that has a headphone port and wear it for hours at a time.

HOW DO WE TEST GAMING HEADSETS?

At least a week is required for us to thoroughly assess each headset. A voice sample is recorded and compared to previous recordings made by other models in Audacity so that our friends may give us comments.

These kind of games are great for evaluating the low-end and displaying murkiness, while titles such as PUBG are ideal for tracking your location in relation to the other players in the game. We want to test each headset in a range of gaming genres over that week. You should also expect to hear the sound of your brakes locking up or your tires losing grip in a high-quality racing simulator. Superior headphones in Project CARS 2 (seriously!) are easily distinguishable from those that are merely OK. Unquestionably, we like listening to music.

WIRED OR WIRELESS GAMING HEADSETS?

The decision to go wireless is mostly a matter of preference, but if you do, look for a gadget with long-lasting batteries (20 hours or higher). Because of inadequate battery life, there is nothing more unpleasant than having to plug in a headset many times a day. There has a negative impact on the ease of wireless communication. If you’re using a wired headset, be sure the cord is long enough to reach your computer without straining your neck.

WHAT HEADSET DO PRO GAMERS USE?

Our selection has elite-level gaming headsets. Razer, a popular gaming gear company, has many things on our list. Razer’s wares are what most pro gamers swear by. If you can afford Razer headphones, there’s no reason to wait.

The Corsair HS50 Pro is a reasonably affordable pro gaming headset. Corsair is known for offering great gaming technologies at affordable prices. Corsair is a good option if you want a pro-grade headset without breaking the bank.

WHAT ARE THE BEST GAMING HEADSET BRANDS?

So many alternatives make it hard to know which businesses make the best gaming headsets. Every computer peripheral maker makes gaming headphones. They’re not equal.

SteelSeries provides some of the most costly alternatives, but great sound quality. Audio never suffers in stripped-down variants. Logitech may not match SteelSeries’ audio quality, but it always makes comfortable, good-sounding products at a reasonable price.

Razer and Corsair dominate gaming audio. They come with THX or Dolby Atmos, haptic feedback, and outstanding wireless battery life.

But don’t stop there. Astro, Turtle Beach, and the non-gaming Beyerdynamic offer superb headsets, as shown here.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Our list of the best gaming headsets available in 2022 has come to an end. Two of our top choices for gaming headsets are RazerSteelSeries Arctis 7P/7X and  Razer Blackshark V2. Despite their low price tags, these headphones give high-quality sound and a secure fit. Consider the HyperX Cloud Stinger if you’re looking for a cheap headset. We’ve also introduced premium and console-specific pairings, so make sure to have a look at those possibilities.

All of the headphones in this list are compatible with both laptops and desktop computers. Buying a new laptop? Check out our selections of the very best laptops, gaming laptops, and even gaming laptops under $1,000 if you’re in the market.
