The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a fun and easy to fly drone

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is the newest drone from the industry leader.

DJI’s Mini drones are all under 250g. To fly them in many countries without registration or training. Consumers want ready-to-fly drones that need no paperwork or extra expenditures.

Before, Mini buyers had to sacrifice features and quality. Before the Mini 3 Pro, DJI drones lacked obstacle avoidance and auto-tracking.

Now you can fly the Mavic Air 2’s features (with some enhancements) in additional areas.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a substantial update, but is it worth the extra price? Discover.

DJI MINI 3 PRO: DESIGN

The DJI Mavic Mini 3 Pro

The DJI Mavic Mini 3 Pro folds, as expected. It folds to 145x90x62mm and unfolds to 171x245x62mm and weighs 249g. It doesn’t feel as sturdy as previous Mavic models, but this doesn’t affect build quality or flying performance. Propeller arms have been made more aerodynamic and the propellers have been increased in size to aid boost flying durations.
The bigger propellers and more aerodynamic propeller arms enhance flying times.

The drone appears different than the Mavic Mini 2, but it’s still a Mavic. This design change is due to the installation of big obstacle sensors on the front of the aircraft and a dual-mounted gimbal that permits portrait format photography.

The standard package includes the DJI RC-N1, a screen-free controller with a telescopic phone holder for connecting a smartphone through a wire. This is the great blend of affordability and usability for most people, however those willing to pay extra may get the kit with the DJI RC Smart Controller. This has a 5.5-inch touchscreen with 700-NIT brightness and weighs 390g, compared to the DJI RC-N1 Controller’s 385g plus a smartphone.

DJI MINI 3 PRO REVIEW: FUNCTIONALITY

The DJI Mavic Mini 3 Pro function

This adds Quickshots and subject tracking/Follow Me to Mavic Mini drones. Quickshots are automated flying patterns for capturing cinematic video. FocusTrack Suite includes two modes for monitoring moving and static subjects autonomously and a third for manual flying while tracking a specified topic.

The Mini 3 Pro’s additional features and improved camera make it a powerful device. Despite its compact size and low weight, the Mini 3 Pro delivers wind resistance of just under 24mph. Cine, Normal, and Sport modes provide varying flying speeds and functionality, with Sport offering the fastest possible speed of 35.7mph.

The new 2453mAh Intelligent Flying Battery provides up to 34 minutes of flight duration compared to prior versions. Real-world flights are 20-25 minutes, depending on circumstances. Intelligent Flying Battery Plus has 3850mAh and 47-minute flight duration. This is available in the US and Australia, but not the EU.

DJI MINI 3 PRO: PERFORMANCE

DJI MINI 3 PRO: PERFORMANCE

The Mavic 3 Mini’s 21.1MP 1/1.3-inch sensor can capture 48MP stills in Raw and JPEG. The camera’s 24mm equivalent lens has a fast f/1.7 fixed aperture and can be turned 90° to take portrait and landscape images. Portrait mode is best for TikTok and Instagram videos.

The Mini 3 Pro provides great pictures overall, although corners of the frame are somewhat less crisp and lateral chromatic aberration can be detected along high-contrast subject edges. ISO handling is remarkable for a tiny sensor camera, with practically little noise or color loss at ISO 6400.

Photos may be recorded at 12.1MP or 48MP in JPEG and Raw, although only 12.1MP is accessible for automated exposure bracketing.

DJI MINI 3 PRO: COST

Mavic Mini 3 Pro comes in three versions and a Fly More Bundle with extra batteries and accessories. Price-wise, the Mavic Mini 3 Pro isn’t as beginner-friendly as its predecessor.

The Mini 3 Pro without a controller costs $669/£639 and is for customers with a suitable controller. The second package costs $759/£709 and includes a DJI RC-N1 controller. The Mavic 3, Mavic Air 2S, Mavic Air 2, and Mavic Mini 2 all use this controller. The third package costs $909/£859 and includes the DJI RC Smart Controller.

All three kits contain an Intelligent Flight Battery, two sets of propellers, a screwdriver, and a gimbal guard. The regular kit 9 (DJI RC-N1) includes connections to connect the controller to your smartphone, but the other two don’t.

A Fly More Bundle with two Intelligent Flight Batteries, a three-battery charging hub, two propeller sets, and a shoulder bag costs $189/£159. A Fly More Kit Plus with Intelligent Flight Battery Plus is available for $249 in the US and AU$359 in Australia.

FINAL THOUGHT

The Mini 3 Pro is a terrific option if you’re looking for a powerful drone with obstacle avoidance, the ability to follow targets, and the ability to film in 4K60 or HDR. There is no need for expensive training courses or registration in many countries because of its low weight.

In addition, it shoots vertical video, making it perfect for TikTok producers and those who use social media platforms that need vertical video.

If you already have an RC-N1 controller, buying the drone on its own can be a more appealing option than a DJI Mini 2 upgrade or replacement.

RAW and D-Cinelike modes on the Mini 3 Pro are nice additions for serious enthusiasts and professionals who need a lightweight drone.

Looking for the best drones under 250 grams at a cheaper cost.
